Brian Eno Encourages Support to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song features a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
