Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
