Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
