Starting XI

Dean Henderson Not a save required before the break until called into action by an opponent's curled attempt. His sliding challenge on an Albanian attacker highlighted excellent game intelligence. 6/10

The debutant Examined against Albania’s main danger in Hoxha. Started through the middle early on but moved wider once a teammate was introduced. 7/10

The defender Pushed forward when in possession, a familiar role before. At times was too casual on the ball with the approach abandoned at half-time. 6/10

The tall defender Always dangerous from dead balls, typically, but may be a replacement to Stones in defense rather than his partner. One wayward pass in the second half came close to the first goal for Albania. 6/10

The young full-back Another composed performance by the 20-year-old following his first cap against another side. A teammate failed to make the most of a clever touch over the Albania defence. The role is his to lose so soon. 7

Adam Wharton A debut start in an England shirt. A bit careless in possession but his whipped set-pieces caused problems. An effective pace-controller for the manager to call upon against sides that sit back. Cautioned after a reckless foul. 6/10

Declan Rice Set-pieces from dead balls and free-kicks caused problems. Was given room to drift on the left but was offside as the pass came in front of goal. Awarded a well-earned break on the hour mark. Six

The star midfielder Functioned in a forward spot on the right and also did plenty of the hard yards. Demonstrated moments of class and dragged an effort over. Withdrawn towards the end by Rogers, his competition, following a yellow card. Seven

The winger Was presented with the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his shot smartly stopped by the Albanian keeper. With Quansah holding position, he had to provide width out wide although his balls from wide areas varied in quality. Taken off with 15 to go. 6/10

Harry Kane The decisive figure scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals for his country. His first a typical close-range tap-in and the second a classy header following a clever run away from the opposition. At 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance next summer with him up top. 8

Eberechi Eze Had difficulty to influence play from the left. Had a decent opportunity following a pass from a teammate but the keeper denied him. His replacement made much more of influence after coming on. 5

• Foden (replacing a teammate on 63 minutes) Appeared sharp and linked up well with the striker in more familiar role, 6/10
• Bukayo Saka (for Eze at the 63-minute mark) Failed to convert although his set-piece led to the opener, 6/10
