Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
