The Former President's Regime of Punishment and Favor

Trump's insatiable appetite for revenge has rapidly transformed into a structured system. Within the year since his election, the leader's anger and caprices have taken on the guise of government actions in ways reminiscent to historical dictatorial governments. Government officials who fail to comply are immediately dismissed and succeeded by devotees. Opposing leaders who question him encounter legal action, judicial process and sanctions. Critics have been designated under presidential orders as “hostile to national interests”, “anti-Christian” and “against free markets”, and menaced with criminal charges as “security threats”.

The Justice System Transformed

Each case involving targeting of political opponents and protection for supporters demonstrates its own distinct characteristics. Yet, notwithstanding their individual character, they embody manifestations of what has developed as a deliberate technique. Those events are anything but isolated. Trump's cleansing of Department of Justice lawyers and FBI agents, alongside his placement of devotees in senior roles, commenced quickly, soon assumed a regularity, and has now been formed into a regime. The justice department and the FBI have been remade into political bodies under the president's direct orders to implement his demands. Unfairness has been rendered standard. It represents the retribution system.

Leadership is preoccupied with punishing the chief's perceived enemies than they are with protecting our public welfare.

Inside the Apparatus

The beginnings of this framework has been exposed in the legal complaint of multiple previous top FBI agents filed in September in the federal court in the capital against agency head a senior appointee and top lawyer another official for unlawful firing in “a effort of revenge against Plaintiffs for what administration figures considered to be a failure to show adequate devotion”. According to the filing that a former acting director, the ex- acting FBI director, details a exchange in which he “openly acknowledged the unlawfulness of his behavior”.

He had sought to shield FBI agents from being fired, the filing claims. The director informed him that “they” – understood by the official to be the presidential administration and justice department – had directed him to dismiss anyone who they considered as having worked on a criminal investigation against the president. The complaint continues: “The director stated that he had to fire the individuals his bosses told him to fire, because his ability to keep his own job depended on the ouster of the officials who handled cases involving the President. Patel explained that there was no option he or Driscoll could do to halt these or any other terminations, because ‘the agency attempted to incarcerate the chief in detention and he recalls it clearly.’” After the official advised Patel he was disregarding the agency's own internal rules, he allegedly said “he understood that and he knew the nature of the summary firings were almost certainly unlawful”.

Extensive Impact

Since Patel's claimed acknowledgment to him, the DoJ and the FBI have been gutted and repurposed for his retribution system. Several of the agency's senior executives were terminated or compelled to leave in the first days of the presidency. Roughly 4,500 legal professionals at DoJ have agreed to a “voluntary departure plan”. At least multiple government attorneys, such as those in the New York office, resigned in protest over what they regarded as partisan influence in dropping the corruption case against the local official, Eric Adams, in return for his cooperation with the administration's ICE arrests of foreign nationals. The public integrity section of the department, which handles ethical violations, has been cut down to minimal staff. The civil rights division has been decimated: 70% of its employees has departed. A third of top officials at DoJ have left. The section enforcing environmental law has lost a majority its supervisors.

Incentives and Penalties

In the mayor's situation, the temporary lawyer for the NY office, she, resigned in protest against what she characterized as the “trade-off”. The border official, his “border czar,” showed up as the implementer with him on television to declare: “Should he fail to deliver, I'll be back in the city.”. Meanwhile, a former official, previously the justice department figure and a past legal representative, who arranged the arrangement, was awarded an court role, a potential springboard to the judicial branch.

The president's immunity for crimes perpetrated while in government, awarded by the unprecedented ruling of the conservative on the highest court, thus thwarting his prosecution over the political violence and maintaining his electoral prospects for the presidential race, is the cornerstone on which he depends to shield his supporters. Given this protection, he has been freed to enable corruption. The consequence of the supreme court decision permeates his presidency and the political party thoroughly. Trump v United States has metastasized. Similar to Richard Nixon's legal adviser the figure said about the Watergate
